Johanna Cranitch grew up in Sydney Australia and studied Classical Vocal as a child. She was a member of the Opera Children’s Chorus and worked as a vocalist for 4 years before beginning her Jazz Vocal training at Age 16.

 

Trained by one of Australia’s most well respected vocal coaches Joy Yates, Johanna went on to graduate with first class honors In her Jazz vocal degree.

 

Shortly after graduating, Johanna moved to NY where she began her career as a recording engineer. She worked for 4 years at NOLA recording studios and worked with some of the greats such as Liza Minnelli, Bette Midler, Maury Yeston (Guys And Dolls) and Frank Sinatra Jr. During that time, she also became certified as a Kodaly instructor at NYU and began to teach an early childhood music education program affiliated with a non-profit in NY.

 

Leaving the recording studio in 2008 to follow her solo career, Johanna has released three EP’s and two full length records under her band names Johanna and the dusty floor and more recently, White Prism. Amongst the many praises for her Record released in 2015, VICE magazine called her music video for the song Patience “Stunning” as seen, here.

 

She has toured the world as a background singer and keyboard player for acts such as Wheatus, The Cranberries, Nina Persson (The Cardigans).

 

Johanna writes and composes for Film and Television most recently being the Voice of Samsung’s “Wash Happy” Ad campaign.

 

She works freelance as a Session Vocalist and composer for various music houses and lives in Los Angeles and New York.
